Cinevilla Backlot is the only open air film decorations in Baltic States opening a lot of possibilities for filmmaking. It was built in 2004 for the needs of the historical drama “defenders of Riga” so that it can be used and adjusted for various filming projects. Film sets are consisting of historical buildings and objects thus creating the sense of reality of the beginning of the 20th century.

Challenge:

The task was to make cultural and at the same time active program with everyone involved; to make guests to prove their creativity in funny and interesting way.

Realization:

• According to specially created and discussed in advance with the client secenario the roles have been divided within the group. Therefore we had opportunity  to prepare all the uniforms from the past century, as well as civilian costumes, both male and female for every guest before their arrival go the film grounds in the morning in the costume room, so the process of becoming characters of the film is as fast as possible. All the 100 persons were kept busy during the filming process.  In addition to costumes and decorations, all the professional filming equipment, the group leader/ director, camera man, prop master and also pyrotechnician were on guests’ disposal.  
• The filming process took approximately 3 hours, followed by the traditional lunch in local tavern. After the lunch before departure back to Riga, guests had possibilities for retro pictures.
• In the evening the gala dinner was stylized as Oscar award ceremony, with “paparazzi” by the red carpet at the entrance, specially designed posters from popular movies with guests faces inserted into them like the stars.  Guests were brought to the venue by retro cars.
• The annual award ceremony of the client itself took place during the dinner with the “Oscars” going to the guests for special results...
• The filming material has been edited and recorded in DVD format and sent to client after the departure of the group in 2 days.
• During the attractive filming process group, in addition to spending time in interesting way,  had a possibility to enter into the spirit and reality of the beginning of the past century, and obtain a film, where they were the main characters!
