...Basic information about Greece!

• Greece, the cradle of Western civilization, has a 5.000-year-old history. It lies on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula, and on the south-eastern end of Europe. The country covers an area of 50.948 square miles, of which 7.632 are occupied by its 360 inhabited islands. Greece has been a member of the European Union since 1979. Tourism is one of the Country's major industries.
  
  
• Every year Greece receives about 10 million foreign tourists (as many as its population!), mainly over the summer months. There are 9.323 miles of Greek shores, around the country, 3.000 hours of sunshine per year, 6.000 species of indigenous plants complimenting a unique environment. The history and the ancient civilization of this country have trusted the Greek land with the invaluable treasure of its monuments. There are archaeological sites and monuments in almost every corner of the country.
  
  
• The national monetary unit is the EURO. Note that the exchange rate for foreign currency is published daily. Language of the country : GREEK. However, English is widely spoken and understood in Restaurants, Shops and Public Buildings.  Electricity 220 volts AC current. Most electrical outlets in bathrooms have a built-in converter for 110 volts to be used only for shavers.

Plan a surprise toga party which will include each guest "creating" their own toga from special materials supplied by us along with their personal invitation to the evening's festivity.

The ideal place to organise this night is Zappeion, an exceptional classical building with open-air aethrion known as the "Peristilion" as it is surrounded by ancient Greek columns and pillars. Chiffon fabric swaged from the columns around the "Peristilion" to create the ancient Greek ambience. Fresh greenery and elegant floral arrangements abound. The musicians will perform in colourful togas and wreaths. Guests may dine from long wooden tables, while drinking and merrymaking ... just as it was done in ancient Athens. A celebration of food parades the tables including seafood, roast meat, a large selection of traditional salads, cheese and fruits complemented by pitchers of Greek wine. The entertainment is on-going with ancient drama performances, belly dancers, jugglers and mimes performing throughout the evening.
