Morocco

... Morocco is a country full if charm and emotion
Morocco, officially the Kingdom of Morocco, is a country in North Africa. It has a coast on the Atlantic Ocean that reaches past the Strait of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean Sea.
Morocco is in many ways a country apart. It nestles on the north western tip of Africa, separated from the rest of the continent by the towering Atlas Mountains and by the Sahara itself. Its climate, geography, and history are all more closely related to the Mediterranean than to the rest of Africa, and for this reason visitors are often struck by the odd sensation of having not quite reached Africa in Morocco. In the north, its fine beaches, lush highland valleys, and evocative old cities reinforce this impression. Yet, as one moves south and east, into and over the starkly beautiful ranges of the Atlases, Morocco's Mediterranean character melts away like a mirage. The Sahara stretches out to the horizon, and forbidding Kasbahs stare.

Morocco, the land of festivals
A land of hospitality and encounters, Morocco is a major international festival venue. The major towns organise original events – in music, film, popular culture - often taking the theme of dialogue between the west and the east. Take advantage of a stay in Morocco to discover the unique atmosphere of these events. Several concerts and film projections take place in historic locations, often outdoors. The warmth of Moroccan nights gives these events a very special atmosphere. Here are a few examples.

In Marrakech, the International Film Festival is a major event. The idea behind it is to create a bridge between films of the north and south, with films that mix cultures, nationalities and languages. Since its creation, the festival has received the greatest actors and filmmakers such as Alan Parker, Jean-Jacques Annaud, Jeanne Moreau, Francis Ford Coppola, David Lynch, and Constantin Costa-Gavras.
Tangiers now celebrates jazz in all its forms with Tanjazz. An open, inventive and demanding programme that has encountered strong popular success.

For years, Essaouira has become synonymous with world music through its Gnawas and World Music Festival, rich in emotion and musical encounters.

Fez, a highly spiritual town, welcomes a fabulous Festival of Religious Music that is broadly open to the world and other religions.
